Role of a Solar Technician

Solar Technicians are the workers on the front line of the transition to renewable energy. A Solar Technician works in the field full-time, helping to assemble, install, and test both mechanical and electrical components of a solar array. At Next Generation Solar, technicians have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from large, utility-scale solar farms, to localized community solar installations, to small residential arrays.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble racking, install modules for residential, commercial, and utility solar installations

  • Perform DC and AC electrical installation for large solar farms, including trenching, conduit assembly, wire management, and resistance testing

  • Perform routine electrical and mechanical maintenance on a variety of solar installations
